Wow… so that was quite the colossal failure, eh?  Once again, I not only stopped dieting, but have managed to climb right back up to 468 pounds.  Yay team!

Oh, wait… that should be boo team…

Interesting from a psychological point of view, though… once again the diet was going very well, right up until the point I was ready to put myself in a position to talk to people openly about it and then… meh… I don’t go off diets as much as I simply stop dieting and let the bad habits creep in… but it’s not a destination, it’s a journey right?!?

So here we go again… launching one man’s quest to eradicate his moob-li-ness.   I’m doing things a bit different this time in that I’m simulcasting this strip for a few days on the Slightly Off-Topic website.  This accomplishes two things:

  1. It let’s me work on a proper buffer for Slightly Off-Topic which is getting to be more and more of a problem…
  2. I know for a fact that a few key family members read Slightly Off-Topic, so it’s kind of dumping the whole thing out in the open in one fell swoop… no chance to pussyfoot and severe public humiliation should I fail again…

…and humiliation is probably a pretty good motivator because while I am a very healthy and active morbidly obese guy, the fact is I’m getting older, and I can feel myself reaching the point where I either fix the situation or start paying some rather serious consequences.  So there’s that…

More importantly, it is day one, so let’s run the numbers…

Food Intake:

  • Breakfast – Cottage Cheese and a banana – 350 calories
  • Lunch – Half of a Marie Callendar’s Chicken and Mushroom Pot Pie – 550 calories
  • Mid-Afternoon Snack – Activia Blueberry Cheesecake Yogurt (ick) and Two Cutie Clementines – 230 calories
  • Dinner – Krazy Jim’s Blimpy Burger Quint Salad – 715 calories

1845 calories total.

I was, of course, shooting for 2000 calories, but I my plans were changed at the last minute when Laurie stated that she wanted a Blimpy Burger.  Oh… and those of you in the know are probably saying that Blimpy doesn’t make salads… this is very true.  However, if you skip the cheese and bacon, toss out the bun for the birds, chop it up and poor it over a bag of shredded lettuce (with some marinated mushrooms and artichoke hearts), it does, indeed, make for a tasty bit of salad… quite filling!

Exercise:

Nothing formal, so that leaves us at +1845 calories for the day.  Not bad.  Wish me luck!
