I shouldn’t actually pick on Mom as she rarely calls me on what I eat.  However, it fits the overall narrative.  The one with the uncanny senses is my wife’s sister.  200+ miles away, and she will still call every time we go out to dinner.  It’s like she calling to say I know where you are, and I know what you’re eating.  I’m not going to say anything because I don’t have to… you know what you’ve done.

Every.  Single. Time.  It’s amazing.  On the plus side, it acts as a good reminder to eat at home where actual food is prepared and served… which is a good thing.

For those wondering about the Sunflower seed Pate, I asked Karen and it is from Dr. Oz Clean-Detox manual.

  • 2 1/2 cups sunflower seeds soaked for a minimum of 2 hours
  • 2 celery sticks, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup sauerkraut
  • 1/4 cup shallot or yellow onion
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 fresh chopped herbs (what have you – oregano, chives, etc)
  • Salt to tast

Karen chopped the ingredients and mixed together, and it was tasty (and I am a devout sauerkraut hater).  I think it would be even better tossed into the blender or food processor and worked down into a hummus-like paste.  Then you could use it as a dip or sammich spread.

Food Intake:

  • Breakfast – 1.2 slice whole wheat naan with feta and olives bruschetta – 200 calories
  • Lunch – Jimmy John’s 8″ veggie sans mayo – 480 calories
  • Dinner – Roast chicken, potatoes and guac salad – 800 calories
  • Evening snack – Dark chocolate caramels – 170 calories

1650 calories total.  Not bad.  I should be eating a few more calories but nothing really appeals.  I forgot to buy bananas this evening when I went to the store.  Foolish.  So very foolish.

No exercise, as I’m keeping it to three aerobic sessions a week until I’m up to an hour.
