So, Laurie had a lacrosse game at school that she needed to report on for M-Live, so that mean I was alone for dinner.  I decided I was in the mood for a treat, so I arranged my calories and planned on hitting up Kentucky Chucky for dinner!  Sure it was going to be a 3-piece grilled with mashed and green beans as opposed to my usual 3-piece extra crispy with double mashed and biscuit (slathered in butter), but that’s fine.  I’m a chicken fiend, and this was going to be a delicious, luxurious treat.  I was looking forward to it All. Day. Long.

Then I got the phone call…

Hey hon, can you pick up some milk and ice one the way home?  Thanks.

Ugh… Suddenly I had a choice.  I could pick up the KFC, then grab the groceries and enjoy cold food when I got home (rewarmed KFC is not the same and two trips were not an option), or I could watch the milk get warm and the ice melt as I sat in the drive-thru waiting for the dinner.  Neither seemed like a good option to me.  [Editor’s Note: It just occurred to me that I could have gone inside, enjoyed my dinner and then went to the store on the way home… oh well… hindsight and all…]

In the end I opted to just grab the groceries and cook something at home.  Kind of disappointing, but practical.  After dinner, I found myself with a ton of calories left, and no idea what to do with them.  I thought about it, and decided that I still deserved a treat (within my caloric allowance, of course), and how does that saying go?

Without ice cream life and fame are meaningless…

Damn straight… I popped onto the DQ nutritional guide page and realized there was a banana sundae in my future.  I sent a text off to Laurie to pick them up on her way home and waited.

…and waited.

…and waited.

Crap, the DQ is closed now.  Hmmm… well, I’m hungry and have a severe calorie shortage to deal with… what sounds good?  As I’m looking around and just about to commit to a bagel with peanut butter, the phone goes off, and it’s Laurie.

How about some Coldstone?

I had to check their website because there’s a lot more calories to deal with in Coldstone than the DQ, but it turns out there was a smaller (but perfectly acceptable) banana sundae in my future.

Huzzah!

I ended up at my caloric goal which means that I didn’t have to spend today ravenous and peeling my fact, plus I was able to indulge in a tasty treat.  So, all that being said, let’s run the numbers.

Food Intake:

  • Breakfast – 2 eggs and an english muffin – 290 calories
  • Lunch – the last friggin’ leftover hot dog (whew) carrots, baked doritos and water – 505 calories
  • Afternoon snack – naval orange – 100 calories
  • Dinner – gizzards (hey – I love gizzards) sauteed with onions and garlic and a vegetable salad with soy – 500 calories
  • Evening snack – Coldstone Love it Cheesecake-flavored ice cream with fresh bananas – 570 calories

1965 calories total.

Some thoughts – My evening snack had more calories than any other meal of the day.  There’s nothing actually wrong with that, but there is a smaller serving available, and  it might would be well worth adjusting to it.  I ended the day right where it should be, but as the lifestyle changes continue, I will want to shuffle how some of those calories are taken in.  A few more fruits and veggies… a bit less bread and meat.  But as I said, for now… I’m just focusing on adjusting to the calories.

Exercise:

Nothing organized.  My legs felt that they’d climbed those stairs enough.

Also, I want cheese.  I may plan a bit for my evening snack tomorrow.
