Whew… what a busy day!  Just a quick report today to cover Friday’s activities, so let’s run the numbers…

Food Intake:

  • Breakfast – Fruit Smoothie (a la Alton Brown) – 350 calories
  • Morning snack – Yoplait Whip Chocolate Mousse yogurt – 160 cals
  • Lunch – Tuna on bagel with mustard and giadiniera, carrots and water – 380 cals
  • Afternoon snack – 5 olives (salty deliciousness) – 25 cals
  • Dinner – Gorton’s garlic grilled fish, mashed potatoes, green giant individual broccoli and cheese-like substance – 520 calories
  • Evening snack – 16 junior mints – 170 calories
  • Later evening snack – Ritz crackers – 250 calories

1855 calories total.  Not bad. I did try and spread the calories out a bit more evenly yesterday with reasonable results.  The broccoli and cheese stuff (40 cals) went on top of the mashed p in lieu of any sort of gravy and worked quite well.  Overall, a very tasty dinner.

Exercise:

As you can see from the above, I pulled my walking shoes back out and got myself to work.  It felt good, too.  I felt like I was flying, and it was a great morning.  I wish I’d had gloves with me, but what are you going to do.  I did cop out on the walk back home because my rod was very, very sore.  [Editor’s note: By ‘rod’ I mean the surgical rod holding my tibia (or was it the fibula) together.  The tissue around the upper screw point tends to get rather inflamed/sore for the first few instances of hiking to work after a break.]  It was good to get out though.

In any case, my trusty Garmin wristwatch reports 4.43 miles walked and 1146 calories burned.  As I’ve said before, you have to take such numbers with a large grain of kosher salt, but for the sake of numerical completion, that’s 1855 calories in – 1146 calories burned in the walk which leaves me at +709 calories for the day… which is a good thing.
