Good Lord, was it hot today!

And what is it about hot days that just make you want to throw your diet out the window.  Oh, I know… it’s ice cream, slushies, soda, whip cream, and all those other lovely, lovely cold treats.  At one point yesterday, I would have knocked down a series of small children in the rush to get to the ice cream truck!  Happily, good sense prevailed, and Ann Arbor’s children remained unbruised.  Instead, I opted for a glass of truvia-sweetened ice tea.  It was very nice.

I had planned to walk to work, but realized I had zero supplies (clothes or food), so I had to drive in to work.  This was stupid on my part because Wednesday is a dental appointment which requires me to drive again.  I did my best to make up for it, by huffing ‘a pied’ everywhere over campus, but poor planning bit me in the arse again.

In my defense though, I was bone-frickin’ tired.  Only four hours of mostly restless sleep (due to the heat), so I was not at my best.

Okay then.. let’s run the numbers…

Food Intake:

  • Breakfast – Banana and granola bar -240 calories
  • Lunch – Oscar Mayer lunch pack (Chicken sammich, Jell-o and 100 calorie pack of chocolate-covered pretzels) – 370 calories
  • Afternoon snack – Five olives and a pickle – 40 calories
  • Dinner – Baked chicken, potatoes, mushroom gravy – 800 calories
  • Evening snack – Godiva chocolate and caramel – 50 calories

1500 calories total.  I should have added some more fruit or a fibar bar to my evening to up the calories and nutrient content, but like I said, I was dog tired, and hit the bed at about 8:45… and was gone shortly thereafter.

I enjoy the OM lunch packs because they are pretty tasty, and it’s nice having a “no sweat” calorie count, but the sodium is sooooo high in these things, I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore after I eat my last one.  I’m better off just weighing everything and building from scratch.

Dinner was great!  I just rubbed a chicken and baked it, whipped up some potatoes and made a broth/corn starch/onion/mushroom gravy.  So good.  I had a salad planned, but too tired and lazy to see it through.  It’s on the menu for Wednesday.

I’d been planning on having my Skinny Cow chocolates for an evening snack, but Laurie was eating a Godiva Chocolate and Caramel bar, and offered me one 50-calorie square.  As it was fewer calories than I planned and God-freaking-iva, I opted for that instead.

I think I made the right choice.
