I suspect that this is ultimately self-defeating, but there are times when you just can’t get away with imagining yourself a waif and enjoying your teensy tiny portion (no matter how appropriate it is).  At times like that, I reach for salad.  So much munchable foodstuff with such a very low caloric cost.  Tonight, I made just such a salad.

I started with a bag of shredded lettuce, and then added a jar of artichoke hearts (drained).  Then a pack of sliced baby bel’ mushrooms… then a sliced onion… then two roma tomatoes…. and finally a nice sliced cucumber.  I tossed it up (leaving cheese and croutons on the side for the girls), and let the girls take what they wanted.  I then dumped a few olives on top, a couple tablespoons of vinaigrette, and I went to town on that son of a gun.  I also enjoyed the last few ounces of pulled pork on the side.  Yummy in my tummy.  I remain happily sated.

Let’s run the numbers…

Food Intake:

  • Breakfast – Banana and granola bar (creature of habit, eh?) – 240 calories
  • Lunch – The final OM lunch pack – 370 calories
  • Afternoon snack – granola bar – 140 calories
  • Dinner – King of salads and pulled pork – 650 calories
  • Evening snack – Skinny cow chocolates – 120 calories

1520 calories total… I’d eat more, but thanks to the salad, that just ain’t gonna happen.  Pas du tout!

I did my upper body workout on the weight machine today.  I continue to be amazed how much stronger my right size is to my left.  Next go round, I’m going to add some lateral raises in to work on my shoulders.
